A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce of Guayaquil (CCG for its Spanish acronym) will attend on Monday to the Committee on Economic System of the National Assembly in order to present their concerns about the inclusion of school supplies imported within the 2800 subheadings affected by the safeguards, that took effect since Wednesday and represents an increased on them of up to 45%, said Gabriela Uquillas, customs advisor of the GCC.
Uquillas said; for example, watercolors, already entering the country with a tariff of 15%, also paying 12% more for the VAT and 0.50% for the Fodinfa now must cancel 45% by surcharges.
The head of the Commission, Oswaldo Larriva, also announced that next Wednesday he will meet with the ministers of Foreign Trade, Diego Aulestia; the Industry Minister, Ramiro Gonzalez; the Coordinator of Economic Policy, Patricio Rivera, and Production Minsiter, Richard Espinosa.
“We are going to discuss with representatives of the executive to see if there is a way to reduce the surcharge” he said.
