Refugees pedaled in Guayaquil

Nancy arrived in the country in 2004. The violent episodes starred by Colombian guerrilla groups motivated her and a group of 2,000 people to leave Cali and other cities where the armed groups sowed panic and social instability.
Shortly after establishing in Ecuador, the woman obtained the status of refugee and that, she says, has helped her to feel safer and to project her development in the country.
She and many others like her participated yesterday morning in a biking caravan and artistic festival called PAZeando #ConLosRefugiados (PEACEbikin #WithTheRefugees), within the framework of this classic date that is celebrated every 20th of June, worldwide.
Irene van Rij, head of the Acnur Office in Guayaquil, said that in Ecuador there are 60,329 recognized refugees. Of that figure, she explained, 95% are Colombians. (I)
