Requests for waiver of CPC members after Odebrecht case

Social sectors insist on calling for the resignation of the members of the Citizen Participation Council (CPC), and even the body itself, which was created within the framework of the Constitution of Montecristi. They claim it failed to fulfill its main constitutional powers to fight against corruption and to elect authorities with transparency.
This request arose in the election campaign but was accentuated after the corruption scandals related to the Odebrecht case and the alleged involvement of Comptroller General Carlos Pólit -elected by the CPC- in recent days.
And in fact, the appearance of the authorities of the Council at the Audit Commission, that processes a political trial against the comptroller, is scheduled for today. (I)
