Restructuring of the Armed Forces will include applicant’s reduction

President Rafael Correa announced that the restructuring of the Armed Forces shall be done in a technical form and the number of applicants to the military schools will be reduced by a 50% annually.
The changes involve a new system to perform military service in six months, and the reduction of 16,000 to 10,000 conscripts per year.
They will return ‘for fifteen days the next five years to upgrade their knowledge,’ Correa said.
The President anticipated that by 2025 it is projected a reduction of 34,500 troops from the 42,000 existing.
Correa provided these statements during the possession of Luis Garzón as Head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces.
