Review process of the Court starts on 18 constitutional amendments
The package of 18 constitutional amendments that the Alianza PAÍS (AP) movement referred two weeks ago to the Constitutional Court (CC) is being revised since yesterday. A process which shall verify whether the request meets the requirements of law to be declared admissible.
The CC reported on its Twitter account that the admission chamber, composed by Judges Ruth Seni, Antonio Gagliardo and Alfredo Ruiz, had raffled a total of 645 causes.
They, said Assemblyman Fausto Cayambe, will decide if the request meets the requirements of the Law on Jurisdictional Guarantees to be admitted.
He added that once completed this step, and within fifteen days (only counted weekdays), they will proceed with the draw to choose the trial judge rapporteur.
President Rafael Correa defended the proposed amendment with the argument that some reforms seek to correct “inconsistencies” or technical matters of the current Constitution.
