Rousseff invited Pope Francis to the world cup of Brazil
The president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, formally invited the Pope Francisco to visit the country during the celebration of the World Cup of football, which will start on June 12. Rousseff received the pontiff this Friday in a private audience.
According to Brazilian sources, the President Francisco invited to be present at the opening match at the Arena stadium in Sao Paulo or in any of the games of the argentine team in the World Cup.
The Brazilian Foreign Ministry said that despite the invitation, the presence of the pope in the World Cup 2014 could finally become a letter of support.
For its part, the Vatican spokesman, Federico Lombardi, said that the meetting of Rousseff and Pope Francisco held today was the third in an absolutely “private” type.
