Ruling of the Terrabienes case is ratified and those harmed shall be compensated with $ 24 million

The ruling in the Terrabienes case was ratified at the appeal hearing held Monday, the Attorney General’s Office reported.
The Chamber of Criminal Guarantees of Guayas issued the resolution, which provides that defendant Jorge O., former manager of the Terrabienes real estate company, is responsible for the payment of about 24 million, to secure redress for the approximately 1,200 harmed parties.
This amount was established based on the evidence presented by the Attorney General´s office.
In its ruling, the chamber granted the Eighth Court of Criminal Guarantees of Guayas the competition to enforce the payment, since this court was the one that issued the sentence of 10 years imprisonment against Jorge O.
The Attorney General´s office began the investigation of this case on February 2, 2015, before the alleged harm caused by the false promise of delivery of housing in the Arcos del Rio housing complex, that belonged to the Terrabienes real estate company, located at kilometer 1.5 of the Terminal Terrestre-Pascuales highway, in the north of Guayaquil.
