Russian incursion on Ukrainian territory is denounced by NATO

The general secretary of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, today confirmed media reports that claim that Russian military vehicles have crossed the border with Ukraine.

“Last night we saw a Russian incursion,a crossing from the Ukrainian border,” Rasmussen said, adding that “this simply confirms the fact that we are seeing a continuous flow of arms and fighters from Russia to the interior of eastern Ukraine.”

“It is a clear proof of the continued Russian involvement in the destabilization of Eastern Ukraine,” he said.

Rasmussen urged Russia to “withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian border, stop the flow of weapons, fighters and money to Ukraine, to end support to armed separatists in eastern Ukraine and engage in constructive dialogue with the government in Kiev.”
