SOAT will not have cost for 180 days
Posted On 09 Jan 2015
The National Agency of Traffic and entities in charge of road safety reported on January 8 that the Obligatory Traffic Accident Service (SOAT for its Spanish acronym) shall cease to have a cost in the next 180 days.
This measure responds to the reforms to the Road Law, approved last December 29. Among the changes is established the creation of the Public System for Payment of Traffic Accidents, entity that will replace the SOAT .
Drivers whose SOAT expires during these six months will not have problems with the law.
But in case a road accident occurs, the Fonsat assured on January 8 that the coverage for the injured or dead people will be guaranteed. Solely the vehicle registration will be needed to access to the policy services.
