The new deepwater port will be located “in the sector of Posorja”, as announced by President Rafael Correa during the weekly address on Saturday, August 16.
On last November, the Government hired a foreign company Engineering of Systems for the Defense of Spain (Isdefe for its Spanish acronym),to undertake studies to “identify the ideal location for an external port in the province of Guayas …” according to the attached specifications to the contract.
During his intervention, Correa added that “there are three global companies interested in investing in the port.”
“We have no problem if it is private investment, public investment or joint investment. The important thing is that it is done quickly, “he said.
