Supercom summons written media for alleged violation of Communications Law
The Superintendency of Information and Communication (Supercom for its Spanish acronym) notified the written media EL Universo, El Comercio, La Hora and Hoy, pursuing the complaint filed by the citizen Carlos Vera Quintana.
The complaint includes an alleged violation of Article 18 of the Communications Law because the newspapers did not spread “in sufficient space and in detail a news of eminent public interest,” as the official academic two-day visit of President Rafael Correa to Chile, the past 13 and 14 May.
Vera Quintana, Coordinator of the ECI and Communication Rights Observatory, asked for the corresponding actions according to defined in the abovementioned article of the Communication Act.
The sustaining audience will be held at 09:00 on Monday, June 23, in which the complaint will be answered, and the evidence, documents and proofs of prosecution of each of the parties will be presented.
