Supermarkets and restaurants use self-service checkouts
In one of the 44 establishments – of Mi Comisariato de Corporación el Rosado – that have this technology there are ten booths.
Adrián Martín, manager of the self-service checkouts, indicates that these have a very wide use and are accepted by his customers, being much greater in the stores known as “Mini”, located in various cities in the country.
«Daily in this store more than a thousand customers will pass through our self-service checkouts, we have usage percentages of up to 40%, and in Mini stores, up to 50%.»
This payment method turns out to be very agile, consisting of only five steps, which allows customers to become very familiar with this method so that they can use it in their next purchases. Once you have selected your products you must:
- Enter your ID number.
- Scan the barcode of the items and put them in sleeves.
- Make the payment either in cash or card and collect your invoice.
- Finally, remove the case with the products to process the payment.
In each supermarket that has this payment method there will be an advisor who will guide customers on the use of this system. Clients who are becoming familiar with the system are satisfied with it, as is the case of Justin Guerrero, a recurring client of Mi Comisariato:
“It is much safer to pay when you do it yourself without having to present the card to other people.”
Ecuavisa reports that digital stores have also been implemented in several fast food franchises such as McDonald’s, which already has this system in its 33 restaurants nationwide. In this way, self-service checkouts not only speed up the purchasing process, but also reflect a growing trend towards the modernization of different services in Ecuador.
