The attacks occurred in the Arabaeen neighbourhood in Hama just a day after United Nations observers, started monitoring an 11-day ceasefire agreement in the city.
According local activists informed that so far 26 people were killed as shells exploded in two neighbourhoods in Hama. The Local Coordination Council of Syria, a network of activists, pointed out that dozens of people were injured.
Security forces in the city fired upon people to disperse a demonstration, while intense explosions in the neighbourhoods of Baba Amr and Inshaat ravaged the city of Homs.
Now the UN Security Council voted unanimously last Saturday to authorize up to 300 unarmed military monitors to force the compliance of the ceasefire imposed earlier this month. (AV)
