Tariffs must be sacrificed to encourage exports

Import tariffs on a yet undetermined number of raw materials will be reduced. This is what the Ministry of Foreign Trade is studying, according to statements of Minister Pablo Campana, yesterday at the closing of the Third Round of Negotiation for a commercial agreement with EFTA, in Guayaquil. The tax will become a key to boost and not only restrict foreign trade.

Campana explained that the government is studying to lower the taxes of raw materials that now pay around a 25% surcharge and are a fundamental part of the domestic production, especially for exportable products. (I)
