TCE accepts processing YASunidos’ appeal
The Electoral Crime Tribunal (TCE for its Spanish acronym) has accepted to process the appeal filed by the YASunidos group and has also placed an order to the President of the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym), Domingo Paredes, so that within two days, he remits the full record on the resolution adopted by the challenge to the signature verification process of YASunidos.
Pablo Piedra, attorney for the environmental group, said that the challenge is based on the right of individuals to seek a referendum that the CNE wants to modify the process through regulations that impose additional conditions.
“We hope that the TCE, as the highest body responsible for ensuring rights, to comply with its duty of transparency and independence, which the National Electoral Council did not have,” Piedra said.
