The 2014 Olympic Torch Could Travel to Space
Posted On 23 Feb 2011
For the Deputy Director of the Russian Space Agency, Vitally Davydoy, sending the Olympic torch to the International Space Station “is not a bad idea” and even called it “interesting.”
Davydoy told the press that this idea is “theoretically possible” but admitted that carrying fire inside the space laboratory is not allowed. Despite this, he expressed that the Agency is considering this possibility in case the Russians want to carry the torch into space.
As a tradition, the Olympic torch will visit different destinations in the world before arriving in Sochi, host city of the Winter Olympics (Boreal) 2014.
