The “Campus Party” Will Be Held in Ecuador
The biggest technology party on the planet, the Campus Party, will take place in the Middle of the World in October.
The event will be held from 19 to 23 October and about two-thousand participants are expected to attend, including youth, teachers, scientists and the general public, “the technology enthusiasts who want to learn, create, innovate will go” said Maly Espinosa, spokeswoman for the organization. Many Internet personalities will also attend, including Kevin Mitnik, considered a computer security guru and one of the most controversial “hackers” in the world.
The event–that has been held in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico–will be held in a convention center located near the Equator monument, where the line of Ecuador is located, about 15 kilometers north of Quito. Technology workshops, particularly on access to the internet will also be taught.
Campus Party, which began in Spain fifteen years ago, is sponsored by Telefonica of Spain and the municipality of Quito, among others. The edition of Campus Party in the Middle of the World will be merged with the International Fair of Information Technology, and Telecommunications Software, Compu 2011.
