The European Union approved tariff benefits to Ecuador for 2 years
Posted On 17 Dec 2014
Today, at 07:00, was approved in the European Parliament the extension of tariff preferences to Ecuador for two years, said the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters.
On December 31, the General System of Preferences Plus (GSP +) expires, which currently allows the entry of national export products with zero tariffs to the European market. Because of this, and after negotiations to reach an agreement with the European Union, the Executive branch of this block submitted to Parliament a regulation for the extension of preferences for two years.
After several instances, the extension of benefits to 1000 tariff headings was finally approved, with which 98% of exports to Europe could continue entering without paying tariffs.
