The first tramway of Cuenca was introduced
The municipality of Cuenca introduced the first unit of the Santa Ana de los Cuatro Rios de Cuenca Tramway, as part of the new Integrated Mobility System (SIM for its Spanish acronym).
Later this month two more units will arrive from France, announced the mayor of Cuenca, Marcelo Cabrera, during the event. So far, the overall progress of the works complex for the SIM is 38%.
Gerald Fernandez, director of the tramway project, said that static tests will take two months, while the dynamic tests (en-route), will start in November. The service is expected to be ready by July 2016.
The first tram machine was built by the French company Alstom. Citadis 302 is the brand of this means of transport, that consists of two cabins. It has capacity for 300 people and it measures 32 meters long.
