The most commented on national TV in 2015

The dismissal of Gabriela Pazmino by TC My Channel, critics towards the reality show “Ecuador’s Got Talent” for the discrimination of an atheistic girl, the triumph of Ecuadorian artists abroad are among the most commented topics of the Ecuadorian television in 2015.

In the reality show “Ecuador’s Got Talent,” judges discriminated a girl for being an atheist. The TV program was heavily criticized and the Ecuavisa network decided to dismiss the hostess Maria Fernanda Rios for “behaving contrary to the guidelines of the channel.”

Ecuadorian actor Danilo Carrera was invited to Ellen DeGeneres Show and is currently working on a new project: a Televisa soap opera.

After 15 years working in TC My Channel, Gabriela Pazmino was fired. Until last October 2, Pazmiño was the hostess of the TV show “I Am The Best VIP,” while Richard Barker was part of “De casa en casa.”

In the “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” show, aired by HBO, the host and British comedian John Oliver mocked the campaign promoted by the Ecuadorian president in social networks against twitterers and Facebook pages that satirize and criticize him.

“Have ever existed British comedians before? Are you sure?,” The president wrote on his Twitter account, this gained the support of his followers that criticized the comedian.

Around the middle of the year started the broadcast of “The Voice Ecuador,” a show that counted with the presence of renowned singers who acted as coaches, as the Spanish Marta Sanchez, the Colombian Coqui (Jorge) Villamizar, the Ecuadorian Daniel Betancourt and the Puerto Rican  Jerry Rivera, who chose the contestants among 96 candidates. Gustavo Vicuna, of the Jerry Team, won the reality show that looked for the best voice in the country.

In the Univision Network reality contest “The Band,” the Ecuadorian Christopher Velez, from Loja, excelled for his talent. The 19-year-old was elected with the vote of the public as the first member of the band. The name of the music band is CNCO and is formed by five singers from different Latin nationalities. The band was rewarded with a contract with the Sony label to produce an album featuring reggaeton star Wisin.
