The number of Venezuelan immigrants who enter Ecuador has doubled in a daily basis

The news that Ecuador will request a visa, hastened the trip of many Venezuelans who wish to enter the country.

According to Edin Moreno, governor of Carchi, more than 25,000 Venezuelan migrants entered Ecuadorian territory from Tuesday until last Saturday.

The official specified that they will attend to the citizens of Venezuela, who without visa sealed their departure from Colombia on August 25 and have the blue Ecuadorian migration bracelet.

The 18 immigration checkpoints authorized in Tulcán by the Ministry of Interior registered increases of up to 200% of citizens from Venezuela who only presented their Andean passport or letter to indicate their departure from Colombia.

The average number of people entering the Rumichaca bridge two weeks ago was 1,000 to 1,500 daily. But in the last seven days it increased to 4,017 people per day and since last Friday around 7,000 Venezuelans showed up.
