The Pope prays for the persecuted

Pope Francis asked to pray for “those Christians who suffer discrimination by bear witness to Christ and the Gospel” during the celebration of the recitation of the Angelus in St Peter’s square.
“Brothers and sisters who like San Esteban are accused unfairly and are subjected to violence of various types. This occurs especially where freedom of religion is not guaranteed or cannot be practiced fully”.
He also said that some countries guarantee human rights “on paper” but not in practice, leaving Christians as subjects to “limitations and discrimination.”
