The Senae grossed $ 1,664,000
Ecuadornews:
The total lifting of the safeguard tariffs, in force since June of this year, caused that imports of products entering the country grow by 58% in relation to June 2016. That contributed to an increased tax collection that in June was located at $ 268 million. This was reported by Mauro Andino Alarcón, director general of the National Customs Service of Ecuador (Senae), who explained that these figures are a sample of “consumption capacity and reactivation of the economy.”
However, he also said that “this behavior means a departure of the country’s currency and a deficit in the balance of payments, so we must boost exports that allow the inflow of dollars in the country.”
During the first half of this year, theSenae raised $ 260 million more compared to the same period in 2016, reaching $ 1,664 million. The director general of the National Customs Service of Ecuador (Senae) Mauro Andino said that this amount equals 43% of the annual goal that is $ 3.4 billion. (I)
