The Sultan goes to Posorja with controversial dredging

Ecuadornews:
The last meeting with the company in charge of the construction and operation of the Posorja deep waters port did not appease the owners and crew of the 40 boats that fish ointment shrimp.
The appointment did not dispel the doubts of the fishers, but representatives of the company, the officials of Port Authority of Guayaquil (APG), the Chamber of Aquaculture and the shrimp farmers of Posorja agreed on some measures that reveal problems.
According to the President of the Association 1 de Mayo Jorge Baidal, one of the first measures is the stoppage of the work done by the dredger closest to the mainland.
DP World has requested two weeks to make that change, just after the arrival, tomorrow at 11:00 am to Posorja, of the Sultan of Dubai Ahmed bin Sulayem, the most prominent official of the Dubai-based company DP World.
“That dredge is one of the worst for the environment, because it penetrates the bottom, lifts sediments and pollutes the waters,” says Baidal. It will be replaced by a suction dredge, like the other one DP World has in the docking area. (I)
