The training period for COIP begins

Imagen 2Following the approval of the new Criminal Code (COIP), last Monday, began to run the various deadlines for the Judicial Function and other institutions to implement it.

The law, which was published in the Official Registry and entered into force since that day, must implement the new provisions within a period of 180 days.

Among the changes to be implemented by the Council of the Judiciary (CJ), is the training of judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys and police members.

The CJ has 30 days from the publication of the law in the Official Registry, to start with this process, as mandated by the COIP.

Concerning the offense of professional malpractice, the entity will have 180 days to implement the new measures. This shall be done in coordination with the Ministry of Health and / or the Prosecutor’s Office.
