The Argentinean government declared three days of national mourning for the death of the iconic singer and film director Leonardo Favio.
The wake for his remains is being held at the Congress, then he will be buried in a cemetery in Buenos Aires.
A decree signed by President Cristina Kirchner, released on Tuesday, indicates: Favio “devoted his life to popular art expressions, was considered a true representative of the national culture for his skills as a filmmaker, actor, author, writer and performer, and its social commitment. ”
Favio directed 11 films, including “ Crónica de un niño solo” (1964) considered as Argentina’s best film of all times in 2000, according to a survey carried out by the Argentinean Cinema Museum. He also released 19 albums, including the hit “Fuiste mía un verano” (1968), and was declared Cultural Ambassador of Argentina by Kirchner on 2010.
