Three Ecuadorian provinces already have 30,000 220 volt connections
This was explained by the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Esteban Albornoz, in the city of Cuenca, ensuring that the provinces of Azuay, Canar and Morona Santiago are the first ones to have 220 volt connections, which are needed to implement the plan of induction cookers in the country.
The plan, announced recently by President Rafael Correa, plans to stop using gas cookers, in order to reduce the subsidy for this service, which represents the state $ 700 million a year.
The program “Efficient Cooking” seeks to introduce three million cookers by 2016, which will be accompanied by their proper cookware suitable for induction technology, as kits. For its use, the owners will require pots and pans using an alternating magnetic field.
