Three laws regulate the use of social networks
The Integral Organic Code of Criminal Procedure (COIP), intellectual property laws and regulations for telecommunications are the tools that can penalize the behavior of Internet users.
After the new call of President Rafael Correa to win the battle in social networks, Juan Carlos Solines, a digital rights lawyer, explains there is a scheme used by governments to restrict freedom of expression and information on the Internet.
The three phases are: blocking the networks or a particular website, developing a legislation to intervene and influencing the flows of information and direct attack. According to Solines, former presidential candidate of the Creo party, this is evident in the measures implemented by the Government.
