Today is the nautical parade to honor Guayaquil
Today is the eighth edition of the nautical parade, starting at 12:00, the event will ran throught the Guayas River, facing the Malecon 2000, starting at Las Peñas towards the Crystal Palace. This is one of the more important acts as a homage to the patron festivities and of the foundation of Guayaquil.
Miguel Cevallos is filled with joy whenever he talks of the Guayas River, since this has given him the opportunity to learn one of the best trades, being a sailor, so today he enthusiastically participates in the eighth edition of the parade, and will do so on board one of its vessels, which he decided to call ‘Mi Guayaquilena’.
This parade is one of the great events that begins the celebration of the 478 years of Guayaquil since its Foundation, it will feature around 60 vessels of institutions, such as the Fire Apartment, National Navy, among others, and approximately 150 vessels that belong to local fishermen.
Five barges will be adorned with allegories representing the fauna of ‘Pearl of the Pacific’.
The vessels will be distributed in the following way: on a boat there’ll be two iguanas, another will have two parrots, two turtles (terrapin and marine), there will also be a Heron with a giant crab and a lazy monkey with a Toucan, each of these figures measures up to 5 meters high.
