H1N1 virus claims another victim in Tungurahua
In that province, in the center of the country, the number of victims of the H1N1 influenza virus increased, now there are 19 infected and 3 deaths, as reported yesterday by the governor Lira Villalva.
Villalva explained that the positive results of the case have presented gradually adding that according to the latest figures there are 29 suspects suffering from the deadly influenza. The official said that the two people who died in the hospital of the Social Security Institute (IESS), were joined by a third who died last weekend at the nursing home.
The victim was a man from the canton of Pelileo, eastern sector of Tungurahua, the governor explained that the subject was committed in a very critical state as far as his health is concerned. “The remaining patients are able, somehow, stable and we are monitoring the needs as they come,” said Villalva.
The website of the Ministry of Health indicates that up to the week 28 there have been 53 cases of the flu. Cases were also reported in Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas (1) and Cotopaxi (2). However, the provinces with the highest presence of the virus are: Tungurahua (10), Carchi (1), Chimborazo (2), Pichincha (2) and one case in Pastaza.
The Tungurahua governor said that today will be announced the new precautionary measures during the meeting of provincial Emerging Operations Committee.
