Today protesters in favor and against the government on national strike
As a rejection of various government policies of Rafael Correa, the United Workers’ Front organized the people´s national strike called for today.
One of the first organizations that joined was the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE) and others of social nature have adhered.
“We will keep mobilizing until obtaining a response from the president (Correa),” said Floresmilo Simbaña, leader of CONAIE.
However, supporters of the regime remain today in “permanent vigil” in the Plaza Grande in Quito, near the Government Palace, to avoid “destabilization,”that according to them, is intended by the strike heads.
Guilds as the Coordinator of Social Movements, the Single Trade Union Organization of Health Ministry Workers (Osumtransa), the United Workers Central (CUT) and the Confederation of Peasant, Indigenous and Black Organizations (FENOCIN) anticipated their participation.
