Tony Nicklinson, a British man affected by a body paralysis, died today after losing to the authorities a long battle for the possibility of assisted dying, his family informed.
Nicklinson, 58, had refused to eat since last week, contracted pneumonia over the weekend and “went down quickly,” said his lawyer Saimo Chahal, “his wife, sister and daughters were with him when he died” she added.
Before dying, Nicklinson tweeted “Goodbye world, the time has come, I had fun.” as can be read in his Twitter account.
The former rugby player was paralyzed from the neck down due to a stroke occurred in 2005. MZ
