Tuenti, new mobile operator enters the prepay market
Tuenti Ecuador, a company owned by Telefonica (Movistar), entered the Ecuadorian market, offering data, voice and messaging all in prepaid packages.
Gerardo Suarez, executive director of Tuenti Ecuador, explains that the operator provides a chip with a cell number which is available in more than 55 000 sales outlets, including local shops, which will cost from five dollars.
With this value the brand includes the phone line and 100 megs, 15 minutes and 15 text messages, recharges can be made. All packages include unlimited Whatsapp and Facebook.
Since its launch in June, there are 8000 customers, a number they expect to increase to 150 000 by 2016. Tuenti bets on younf people (15-30 years old.)
