Learn about the history of Ecuador through clay

The Clay Museum Maria Eugenia Puig was inaugurated on November 15, 2013, and contains the representation of fourteen historical moments of Ecuador, of which Guayaquil was an important part.
The exhibition begins with shamanic traditions, until reaching the urban regeneration of the city. Artist Carmen Cadena expressed in these murals important passages as the Spanish conquest, the colony and illustration, exalting the intellectuals of the time as Eugenio Espejo and Pedro Vicente Maldonado.
A mural showing the shipyards of Guayaquil highlights the main source of income of the period; national heroes of August 10, 1809 and their slaughter a year later, until the independence struggle of Guayaquil, milestone for the Pichincha Battle.
The sample also contains the murals representing the Marcist and Alfarist revolutions, the syncretism, migration and regeneration of the port city.
