Tungurahua Volcano Continues to Generate Agricultural Problem
Posted On 22 Aug 2012
The Tungurahua volcano continues its eruptive process, causing damage in agricultural areas west of the volcano and affecting entire villages.
In recent days, the Tungurahua has launched columns of ash and gases up to a mile above the crater, which until last Sunday, left sectarian 6200 (ha) of crops lost and at least 10,000 cattle without food.
One of the most affected areas is Pillate, of the parish of Pelileo Cotaló, where the landscape is gray white because everything is covered by ash.
