Ukraine seeks to negotiate with pro-Russian protesters
Rinat Akhmetov, owner of the first Ukrainian fortune and an industrial and financial empire in Donetsk, exhorted this friday the Acting Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatseniuk, to resolve the conflict through negotiation with the pro-Russian protesters, who occupy the building of the Regional Administration, and challenge Kiev since last Sunday.
The head of the Ukrainian government maintained during a brief reconnaissance visit to the eastern parts of the country, a meeting with politicians, officials and businessmen in Donetsk. `In the context of a revised Constitution, we will be able to meet the specific demands of each region,´ said Yatseniuk.
During the meeting, Akhmetov made a strong plea for dialogue with the occupants of the Administration. According to him, `people want a better life. To do this, the only right way is the negotiation.´
The employer also protested against violence, bloodshed, occupations and arms thefts. `I firmly believe that we need to sit down at the negotiating table and reach an agreement,´ he said.
