UN base in Sudan suffers attack
Posted On 18 Apr 2014
The attack against a UN base in Bor, South Sudan, on Thursday, left at least 20 dead among the civilian refugees, and 70 injured, said Samantha Power, U.S. Ambassador for the international organization.
Power strongly condemned the “blatant and inhuman attack against unarmed civilians.”
The UN previously reported that the attack at the base of the city of Bor had left two peacekeepers and dozens of civilians injured among the 5,000 who take refuge there.
The United States “will work with its partners to establish responsibilities” and bring the perpetrators to justice, she said.
“This is an insult to the international community and a violation of the fundamental principles on the protection of civilians,” Power said.
