Unasur asks US to repeal the decree that penalizes Venezuela
As a result of the extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) two statements about the Venezuelan situation were issued.In the first paper, UNASUR rejects the executive order from the US government, that on March 9 issued sanctions against Venezuelan authorities. The organization said it would be an “interventionist threat to the sovereignty and the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of other States”.
Furthermore, was requested the repeal of the decree establishing sanctions and invited the Obama administration to “evaluate and implement alternatives for dialogue with the Government of Venezuela”.
In the second statement, the Unasur “renew” its accompaniment to the “broader political dialogue” in Venezuela.
