Venezuelan opposition undertakes new protests
Venezuela experienced a new day of protests yesterday in the streets of Caracas, where protesters chanted “Resign (Nicolas) Maduro, resign!”.
Several of the participants carried crucifixes and tearfully cried out for liberation of Leopoldo López, leader of the Voluntad Popular Party, imprisoned since February 18.
The aim of the new phase of anti-Chavez protests defined as the “path of liberation”, is to achieve presidential elections in Venezuela in the “shortest time” as possible.
Lilian Tintori, wife of Lopez, said they will not stop fighting. “There are political prisoners who are sticking up for us, we have to fight with them, for them”.
Meanwhile, Lopez, in an interview with the Mexican newspaper El Universal, through a written questionnaire ensures he now faces the legal process “full of faith” and somehow he thanked “to the dictatorship the twisted sincerity” that keeps him imprisoned for his beliefs and speeches.
