With the aim of strengthening ties between the two countries, two ships of the Training Squadron of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces arrived yesterday at the Port of Guayaquil.
The visit is part of a training tour through thirteen ports in eight countries, where new Japanese officers reinforce what they learned and exchange experiences with their counterparts in other nations.
About 200 graduates of the Candidate School travel on the two ships called Kashima and Harusame this year, who will perform a series of sporting and cultural activities in the city.
Besides, the officers will perform ‘PASSEX’ exercises; they will carry out combat maneuvers on surface units, airplanes, and Ecuadorian submarines.
Today and tomorrow ships will open for visits. On Saturday, they will leave for Mexico. (I)
