Water Law is restructured
The new Law on Water Resources would be no more an institution divided into two entities, the Agency for Regulation and Control of Water and the Public Water Company, to be a Strategic National System of Water Resources.
This will have a national head: the Single Water Authority (AUA for its Spanish Acronym) with three “arms”. The Agency for Regulation and Control, the Plurinational and Multicultural Advisory Council, besides a Bacin Council.
Under Article 221 of the Water Act, the AUA will run the system and its authority shall be designated by the President and will have the rank of Minister.
The AUA would be responsible for the direction, planning and management of water resources and water public domain.
This entity has been totally rejected and challenged by indigenous sectors.
