At the end of this month, the Mining Regulation and Control Agency (Arcom) plans to get the results of the process of updating the mining activities developed in the country.
Cristina Silva, a representative of that agency, stressed that formalization seeks to improve the conditions of people working in the informal mining sector.
As one of the concerns of the Government is to regularize miners. About 3,000 miners have already been regularized in Cuenca, Ponce Enríquez, Zaruma, Machala, and Nambija.
The data update will allow energizing the economy in the mining areas. “We hope that miners associate to have more benefits, but also to take on responsibilities,” Silva said. (I)
