Marcia Almeida, PRE List 10: Rethinking the role of first lady for the children
Marcia Almeida, wife of pastor Nelson Zavala, presidential candidate of the PRE, is linked to the television, and if she gets to Carondelet, she is convinced that she will assume the role of first lady.
She has nearly twenty years on television and alternates her work with her pastoral labor, which is leaded by the both of them from the Monte de Sion church. “I’ve always been with my husband since we started to preach and wherever he goes I will go with him,” says the CN3 channel newscaster who met Zavala when he was her daughters’ teacher. She has two daughters from his first commitment, Zavala three sons and a daughter together of 9 years old.
I will work for the family and to strengthen the role of women, which is the pillar of our homes, she says, and to accomplish that, she considers necessary to retake the INFA, the Institute for Children and Families that the current government included within the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion; to make a diagnosis of the condition in which it was left and improve it with programs that include women and children.
The fight for the prevention of cancer in women, assistance in cases of domestic abuse, coordinate recreational initiatives and preparation for children with the integration of free music centers in the districts, will be her main goals as first lady.
Tomorrow: Ana Maria Varea, MPD-Pachakutik List 15-18
