Yachay Tech will be evaluated by the Assembly

The Education Commission of the National Assembly will investigate the functioning of the Yachay Tech, Amazon Ikiam, Arts and Nacional de Educación universities.

After complaints of alleged overpricing in the procurement of Yachay and the payment of high salaries to members of the management Board, the Assembly convened the interim rector of the institution, José Andrade, first. The authorities of the other universities shall also appear. Dates are yet to be defined.

Ximena Ponce, Assemblywoman of Alianza PAIS, proposed the review by the dismissal of Fernando Albericio, rector of Yachay Tech until July 23. That exit was decided by the management board of the institution.

For members of the opposition, the alleged irregularities should be investigated thoroughly because it was the Assembly in 2013, which approved the establishment of the academic institutions.

Through a statement, the commission said that in the hearings of the authorities of the four universities a management report and a roadmap of the academic activities that are developed shall be exposed.
