Young Ecuadorian drowned in the United States
Jefferson Paúl Loja , 18 years old and a native of the Molleturo parish in the province of Azuay, died in a lake in Connecticut, in the United States. His death was confirmed on Monday, July 11, 2022.

Jefferson Loja died when he went swimming with a group of friends in a Connecticut lake.
According to information shared by the victim’s family , the young man went out with a group of friends to swim in the lake, they entered as a group and when they left the young man was gone, they looked for him in the bathrooms and called the authorities because he had not appeared since the Sunday July 10.
Before his disappearance, divers were looking for him in the lake and on Monday the 11th his death was confirmed.
Jefferson arrived in the United States illegally on a trip that took him three months, he had been in Connecticut for five months where he lived with relatives and worked in construction.
“The parents are poor and humble people, they got into debt so that their son could go to the United States, and now this misfortune leaves the family in worse conditions,” commented one of the relatives.
Julián Loja, father of the victim, asked the Ecuadorian authorities for help to repatriate his son’s body .
The body of the compatriot is in the custody of the doctor and they will carry out the rigorous autopsy to find out the causes of his death. Jefferson was located, already lifeless, in the lake of Mixville Park in the state of Connecticut.
