YouTube Wants To Broadcast Live Sports

Posted On 24 Feb 2011
Internet giant Google wants to attract more viewers to its YouTube page by broadcasting live sporting events, which is why it is negotiating with the NBA and the NHL (National Hockey League) and other Europe leagues in order to offer the service.

Since last year, sports events of the Indian cricket league can be viewed on YouTube. Gautam Anand, director of contents for Asia Pacific, explains that Google is studying possibilities of broadcasting a variety of sports since the second half of this year.

With this initiative, Google hopes to attract more advertisers, as users would visit more frequently YouTube. The broadcasting of the cricket league has generated 55 million visits in more than 250 countries.
