Regime apologizes for removing religious figures in hospital
Last Tuesday the removal of images and religious figures of the chapel of the hospital Verdi Cevallos in Portoviejo, by order of the Deputy Health Minister, Miguel Malo. Afterwards the respective regime offered their apologies to the Manabi Archbishop, Lorenzo Voltollini and the Catholic community.
After the effigies were removed, beds were installed where currently lie mothers with their children in the area of neonatology.
Malo arrived last Tuesday night to Manabi where he apologized for what happened with a press conference apologized, noting that there is provision and is not the government policy to remove prayer spaces within health institutions of the country.
“We publicly, on behalf of the MSP, know there was a serious error by the hospital management for not having any dialogue with the parish priest and parishioners of the hospital and proceed to get everything that was in the hospital to put some beds in the maternity area,” said Malo.
The Deputy Minister explained that it was a mistake by the hospital administration for the lack of communication with the representatives of the Catholic Church. Such action caused no penalty.
