150 enterprises received the seal of family farming

In order to expand the market of farmers and the consumer to access a healthy and quality product was launched the seal of family farming (AFC) that welcomes 150 entrepreneurs.As part of the start of this project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mag), indigenous leaders held a ceremony that thanks the Pacha Mama for its kindness and the richness of its products.
“It’s from the land where we get everything, so we should always be grateful and a sign is to do this ritual in order to continue blessing this idea that helps our families,” said Natali Cueva inhabitant of the parish Cebadas canton Guamote and who for 30 years is dedicated to making cheese
The Seal of quality is a hallmark that guarantees the social origin of agri-food products in the commercialization spaces, consumers can identify them and make the decision to choose them under the guarantee that they are quality foods and under the requirements of a protocol that complies with all the health rules.
“To gain access to this seal, agricultural and livestock practices, processing and quality are verified, thus recognizing the efforts of the families that come together to start a business,” said Roberto Gortaire, district director of Mag.
The official added that Chimborazo is one of the first provinces to officially launch and deliver the Quality Seal to 150 families, “but every year we have the goal of increasing this number and that more people benefit from entering this project,”he said.
Among other benefits,the farmer can access credits in Ban Ecuador or be part of new strategies promoted by this State portfolio and be invited to the different fairs to publicize their entrepreneurship.
Yolanda Rodríguez inhabitant of Valparaiso, canton Guano, says she feels excited to receive the badge, she makes uvilla wine and the only way to know their product is in thefairs. “In my land a lot of uvilla is produced, so as a family we decided to use it, now with this seal the people who buy it know that it is of quality because we do it meticulously and respecting health norms, we hope to expandour market” Rodríguez emphasized .

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, 70% of the food consumed in Ecuador comes from the Campesino Family Farming (AFC), so the stamp is necessary to differentiate the products of peasant origin through their particularities.
2014 was declared as the year of the Campesino Family Agriculture, for which the Mag implemented several public policies and since 2016 the proposal to generate a seal was born. (I)
