About 17 provincial governments of the 23 existing in the country demanded yesterday President Rafael Correa, to pay until June 30 $ 284 million owed for monthly transfers after the application of the Organic Code of Territorial Organization, Autonomy and Decentralization (COOTAD), VAT refund and values corresponding to irrigation and drainage.

In this national meeting of governors, which was not attended by representatives of the provinces of Guayas, Santa Elena, Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Cañar, Morona Santiago and Manabi, an urgent meeting with Correa was requested to deliver concrete proposals to overcome the liquidity crisis that may be applicable to all the levels of decentralized governments, said Rafael Davila, governor of Loja.
