30-S: Correa Will Appeal Against Court Decision
Ecuadorian President, Rafael Correa announced yesterday that he will appeal to the resolution of the judges of 5th Criminal Court of Guarantees regarding the absolution of police Coronel Cesar Carrion.
Correa accused judge Hugo Sierra of pardoning the man that screamed, “kill the president!” the man that took off his gas mask and sprayed pepper spray in the presidents face. During his usual Saturday broadcast, president Correa informed that he will appeal this case.
According to the president, the judges Hugo Sierra, Luis Fernandez and Jacqueline Panchana accepted the arguments of the accused and decided to let them go free. Thus Colonel Carrion, Luis Martinez, Luis Bahamonde and Jaime Paucar were released from custody.
The president expressed his contempt on this decision by saying that Carrion posed as a doctor in 30-S, to pass information to the demonstrators.
